CropLife America Continues to Support Adequate Congressional Funding for EPA’s Office of Pesticide Programs

ARLINGTON, VA – As Congressional appropriators markup the FY26 Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies bills this week, CropLife America issued the following statement:

“CropLife America (CLA) continues to support full funding for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Office of Pesticide Programs (OPP) at the $166 million level mandated by the Pesticide Registration Improvement Act (PRIA) 5. Adequate funding is essential to help ensure timely product approvals, to support scientific and regulatory innovations, and to maintain American competitiveness.

“OPP funding decreases over several years have limited EPA’s ability to process registrations in a timely manner, resulting in a backlog of innovative pesticides that aren’t reaching American farmers. This includes full implementation of the Reduced Risk Program and delayed biological registrations. The President’s FY 2026 Budget in Brief (BIB) acknowledges the severity of this backlog and its impact on regulatory certainty for farmers, small businesses, and other users.

“We appreciate the recognition by Congress and the Administration that EPA’s OPP plays an important role in helping to ensure farmers have the tools they need to protect crops and support America’s food security.”
