Sustainable Potato Production

Leonard Gianessi, director of the Crop Protection Research Institute and CropLife Foundation, speaks on sustainability in potato production at the National Potato Council’s Potato Expo in Orlando earlier this year.  He notes that more potatoes must be produced to feed the world’s increasing population over the next 50 years and this production must be accomplished within the context of sustainability involving the economic needs of growers, the requirements of consumers and minimizing the impact on the environment. The use of crop protection products are essential to meeting that challenge, Gianessi reports.
