California Fruit Farmer Talks IPM

Parry Klassen owns and operates a fruit farm in Parlier (Fresno County) California.  When he isn’t busy growing his pomegranates, watermelons and sweet corn, he also serves as executive director of the Coalition for Urban/Rural Environmental Stewardship (CURES).  The Coalition was created to deliver science-based solutions and education to ensure that crop protection tools are used in ways that protect people and the environment.  

Parry enjoyed a distinguished ag journalism career from 1981 to 2004 as reporter and editor for several publications including Farm Chemicals, Western Fruit Farmer, American Vegetable Grower and California Farmer as well as a freelance writer.   He also served as communications manager for Western Plant Health Association (WPHA) from 1995-1997.
