CropLife America President Jay Vroom Renominated for FRRCC

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Jay Vroom, president and CEO of CropLife America (CLA), was recently renominated to serve as a member of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Farm, Ranch, and Rural Communities Committee (FRRCC). In addition to his involvement with CLA, Vroom remains an active member within the agricultural community, sits as a member of both the Illinois and Virginia Farm Bureaus, and is the principle owner of his family’s farm in Illinois. Vroom was previously nominated in 2008 and served as a committee member for two years.

“The FRRCC serves as an important step in the EPA’s efforts to reach out and strengthen ties with America’s farming communities,” said Vroom. “I am honored to represent the voice of our agricultural producers and help guide the EPA in their regulation and policymaking decisions.”

Formally announced by the EPA on October 17, 2007, the FRRCC represents the agricultural communities in the U.S. The 30 members of the FRRCC include large and small farmers, ranchers, and rural communities; rural suppliers, marketers, and processors; academics and researchers who study environmental issues impacting agriculture; and environmental and conservation groups. The FRRCC has issued guidance and recommendations to the EPA on a number of policies affecting farms, ranches and rural communities, including biofuels, NPDES permitting, nanotechnology in agriculture and land use challenges.

Established in 1933, CropLife America (www.croplifeamerica.org) represents the developers, manufacturers, formulators and distributors of plant science solutions for agriculture and pest management in the United States. CropLife America’s member companies produce, sell and distribute virtually all the crop protection and biotechnology products used by American farmers.
